Pray the Rosary
1. Make the Sign of the Cross.
2. Holding the Crucifix, say the Apostles' Creed
3. On the first bead, say an Our Father.

4. Say three Hail Marys on each of the next three beads.

5. Say the Glory Be

6. For each of the five decades, announce the Mystery, &  say and Our Father on the large bead.

7. On the ten small beads, say ten Hail Marys while meditating on the Mystery. Then say a Glory Be.

After finishing each decade, some say the following prayer requested by the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima:

"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of your mercy."

8. After saying the five decades, say the Hail, Holy Queen,
followed by this dialogue and prayer:
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: O God, whose Only Begotten Son,by his life, Death, and Resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech thee, that while meditating on these mysteriesof the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,we may imitate what they containand obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Read the Bible

Reading the Word of God is an essential part to our faith, but it can sometimes be difficult. Maybe you have been an avid reader before, or maybe you are venturing for the first time into more devotional reading. No matter the level of expertise - here are some helpful hints for reading your Bible:

  • Find a quiet place: This can mean both physically and mentally. Whether it be your room, a chapel or outdoors, find a place to read where you will be comfortable and free from distractions. You may want to play music to center yourself, or simply pray in silence.

  • Pick your passage: You may follow a reading guide (such as this), read the daily readings, or simply open your Bible to a random passage.

  • Lectio Divina: This is the best guide we have to prayfully reading the Bible. Follow the steps found here to read your passage so that the meaning may come across to you.

  • Reflect: Do not simply read, close your Bible, and then walk away.  Take a second to reflect on what you read - perhaps saying a short prayer again, journeling, or listening to a song.

Pray

Prayer to our soul is like oxygen to our bodies: we need it to survive. Communication with God through prayer is how we stay connected in our relationship with Him. Everyone prays differently and connects with God in a way that is unique to only them.

Here are some different ways to pray for you to try out and find which ones you like the best.

  • Rote or Memorized Prayers:

    • The Our Father, Hail Mary, The Angelus, Prayer to St. Michael and other prayers you learned and memorized growing up in Religious Education.

  • The Rosary (See how to Pray this Devotion above)

  • Lectio Divina (See how to Pray with the Scriptures above)

  • Praise and Worship through Music

    • Use the words in hymns from Mass or Contemporary Christian songs that help to express your thoughts to God.

  • Eucharistic Adoration (See info on this form of prayer above)

  • Journaling

    • Express your petitions and thoughts to God through writing on a regular basis in a journal.

  • Conversational Prayer

    • Freely talk to God as if you were talking to a close friend. Share with Him your struggles, fears and joys. He wants to know everything you're dealing with so He can help you through it.
